Good morning! Hello, how are you? I am good, thanks so much. Only had about 3 minutes of complete existential freakout yesterday, not too much. I have tomorrow off so today is my Friday. Only one meeting today, too. Out of the woods, just like Taylor and Jack say. Except I’m only saying it once instead of the 200 times they say that phrase in that song. Man that song coulda been so good. Imagine if, oh, I don’t know, Dave Fridmann produced it. That woulda ruled.
Messed around on threads a bit last night and came up with the idea of an Anaïs Nin large language model (LLM).
This is such a good idea! I am very proud of it. I am probably alone in this. But, to recap, Anaïs was a prolific journalist, like yours truly. Only she had a lot more sex than I did. And her journals were more of a “literary artifact.” And they were published. Twice. Once in an expurgated manner, which became a national bestseller upon its initial publishing in 1966 (and onward) and propelled Anaïs into a sort of feminist stardom, and then once again in the 1990’s with the publication of the first volume of the unexpurgated version, Henry and June, which was made into a really-pretty-good film by Philip Kaufman. The unexpurgated version had a lot more sex. And a lot more taboo breaking.
Anyway her journal is a pretty large corpus for an LLM. I mean, it’s nothing in length compared to my journal, hmm hmm hmm, but it’s better, from a literary standpoint, and I just think that would be pretty fun playing with an LLM only based on Anaïs; writings. It would be one hell of a bonkers computer. Make for a good time.
Other than that, LLMs go screw and I’m gonna just go ahead and say they are against my religion and you can’t foist them off on me.
Yesterday I accidentally put some notes for GMHHAY into the notepad for my 1:1 with a specific employee, so I forgot to mention in Turn Every Page there is a really great scene where Gottlieb and Caro make a visit to their publisher to do some editing, which is pretty obviously a rare occasion, and they have to go wandering around looking for an actual yellow pencil and no one in the publishing company has one and it a very funny scene filled with symbolism.
Oh also Caro’s wife Ina rules she is really the unsung hero of this whole endeavor and, of course, she’s gonna outlive both of them.
Should I do this Barbenheimer thing? Don’t think I could do it in one day, because ever since the pandemic, movie theaters don’t open at 10 AM anymore which is the reason why I never go to the movies anymore, even more than the pandemic. Solo 10 AM showings ruled, there was usually no one in the theater and it was just great.
I kinda want to see them both but it is also so much time that I could be, like, running cat6 cable or working on the greenhouse site plan. But i’ve never not seen a Nolan film in the theater since Memento and I feel like I should keep up the habit?
Also the other Jane asked me “what was the happiest day of your life?” And I said “well, I don’t think I can answer that but I can think of a day I was very happy,” and proceeded to tell her about the day I want to the local independent theater, walked in, went up to the ticket lady and said “can I have a ticket to the 1PM Ex Machina and the 3:30 PM Fury Road please?”
And she said “You’re going to have the best day.”
And she was totally right.
But could Barbenheimer top that? Could it?
DDJP last night was just the hits. Well, the favorite artists. Two Katy Perry live videos — one from the king’s coronation a few months ago and a) my god Katy Perry is so popular, and b) my god she can still sing and is so hard core. I really, I dunno, in my head Katy Perry is, like, on the wane but no no way she is like one of the biggest artists in the world and still in her prime, huh. That Vegas residency. I think we’re probably gonna have to go to it sometime. The other video was a live one from the “Prismatic” tour maybe 6 years ago and man what a spectacle. I am now filled with regret that I never saw Katy Perry live.
What has my daughter done to me.
We did get some Robyn in there, though, still in her top five. Also I’ve created a monster and she is very into BlackPink these days. I did that to myself.
She had a good 20 minute long fit last night about not being able to pick up the dinner delivery from a specific door, cuz the delivery driver delivered it to the other door. She just immediately lost it, collapsed to the ground in a pile and started wailing. And it was, like, 90 degrees out and it was sushi so we couldn’t really leave out there and let her take her time. BUT in the end, we were both helping her get through it, and she was holding on to both of us talking about what it feels like to immediately just lose it and it was all very interesting and it was also the first time she could be that self-reflective that quickly after a fit, so, I guess it was a win.
It has been seven days since our last incident.
Time to reset the clock.
“Industrial” mix for you today though I am, at times, admittedly, casting a wide net. No idea what this Sparks song is doing on here but I stand by it. Mostly new stuff, couple hits from the 80s and 90s. Ha yes Godflesh and Neubauten are hits.
Look I’m telling you right now there is a good chance you don't get a GMHHAY tomorrow. I have to go to the pain doctor and get muscle relaxer shots all across my shoulders and up my neck and into the top of my head it is going to rule so much. Do you think I can convince them to put some in my finger as well? I did have a revelation that my “arthritis” in my hands is 90% confined to a single finger so I think I’m gonna pump that puppy full of steroids. Not tomorrow but soon. Shoulder is a bit better, tennis elbow is still garbage, but I am wearing the brace again and maybe it’s better? And I have a giant-ass bruise on my left knee that really is something. What does this have to do with slipping tomorrow. Well, the shot appointment is at 8 AM and then I gotta do the Walmart and recycling shit and then I gotta see Oppenheimer at 1, and, oh, I don’t know. We’ll see. Just warning you.
But we will be back Monday, with bells on.
