Good morning. Hello. How are you? #618
Oh man I didn’t even realize yesterday was issue number 617, like my forever area code on my cell phone. Oh well. 617 represent. Good morning! Hello! How are you? What is up? Happy Friday!
My mom called yesterday and said she had additional information about the pipe organ, but I didn’t call her back yet I am going to do that tonight. I had four hours of Zooms, well, four and a half, actually, if you count the other half hour of Google Meet Hangouts or whatever they’re called these days. I had a two-hour advisory board meeting and it was very interesting and there were a bunch of interesting people and a good talk and it would have been so fun to do it in person at, like, the Mirage in Orange county or that awesome big meeting room attached to the Sunset Tower hotel in LA. Maybe that posh golf course hotel in Santa Barbara where CES used to do their secret meetings I loved that place.
Ooo there are deer in the yard let’s go take a picture.
Man deer sure are good at camouflage.
Anyway, then after dinner I did a two hour guest lecture at the Miami Ad School for their continuing ed program for new CDs, about how CDs interact with agency management and it was quite satisfying and they were a good group from all over the world and asked all sorts of good questions and it was the first talk I’ve given in over two years and it was really fun even though a) my voice was starting to go by the end of it, b) giving a talk on zoom is a little weird but I’m glad I did it at least once. Thank you, Helayne, for inviting me.
Jane puked for the first time yesterday, just as I was prepping for the first long zoom. I wouldn’t say she handled it well, exactly, but she wasn’t, like, fundamnetally wigged out or anything. At least by the time I got up there to help a couple minutes laster. Mostly she just didn’t think it was necessary to change clothes, and she kept screaming “I like my puke clothes,” which was very hard to take seriously and listen to and acknowledge without laughing and it took her a very long time to come round to letting Emma put on different clothes. But, I mean, I can’t blame her. “I liked that outfit. I picked out those clothes,” she said. nd she did a good job!
Every kid needs a Yo La Tengo hannukah residency shirt from the year they were born.
When I was cleaning out the box room last weekend, I found this piano. I think maybe my sister bought it for her? Or maybe I did? But i associate it with my sister so I think she was involved. In any case, it was one of those gifts to Jane that someone gives to a child early, aspirationally, when they’re too young to care. When she was three months crawling around she did not care if a certain part of the floor made noise. But then when I found it in the box room I was like “oh yeah! I bet she’ll love this now” so I set it up over in the far reaches of my office and it took her a day or two to roam over that way and find it, but once she did, sure enough. She loves it now. Which is very satisfying. Plus it has a volume level so it doesn’t annoy me when I’m working.
The other big news from yesterday is that the first cherry blossom flowers appeared! Just a couple, but I am so excited. The three weeks or so with the cherry blossom tree blooming is the best time of year. Plus it’s when I’m out in the garden a lot planting things. This month is going to rule I am so excited. Gardening! Cherry blossoms! Average last frost day is in six days!
I think that’s about it for updates from the last 24 hours. Oh! I never showed you this crazy picture of an owl sitting on our mailbox at night that our neighbor took:
What else what else. Reading Ellie Mystal’s Allow me to Retort. It is a good time a real polemic against the constitution which is super cathartic. Severance is crazy. What a crazy show. Finally got around to starting to watch The Morning Show, since my old friend Aly writes on it now. For season two. We haven’t gotten there yet. I got a Tindersticks box set in the mail but the packaging was all dented up super bad so City Slang is sending me new packaging they were very nice. Still haven’t heard from the ENT nurse, and I am still without one of my allergy medicines heading into allergy season and it sucks. I got the email today from the family to which I donated through the 1kUkraine project and it was very, very rewarding. A+, recommended. I am going to the recycling center and Walmart next and I’m not gonna lie I am going to get an egg and cheese biscuit from McDonald’s for breakfast. But I feel okay about it because yesterday I hit 35 pounds down in this diet. Also lest we forget I quit nicotine during this pandemic that is really something I don’t give myself enough credit for what a crazy achievement! This is what you call a news dump. There are 7 minutes of missing call logs from Trump on Jan 6th! Our primary is coming up May 17th then I can start donating in the general! People are finally starting to get sick of Madison Cawthorn’s shit. Ish. Some. We got a third backup Brown Bear off of eBay I am really cornering the market on these things one day I should open up a museum that’s just 2007 ten-inch Old Navy brown bears. God I want to be a roadside museum proprietor so bad. SO BAD.
Look at this Jane drawing! There is a swingset and flowees and someone sitting on the potty (she drew it while sitting on the potty) and a kitty and rain and a flower and it is just great man it is crazy.
Okay moody and quiet mix for you today, lotta new stuff, some classic oldies. Man I love that Mojave 3 album so much it is definitely a top 10 album of all time for me. And got some classic Talk Talk and Spacemen 3 for you as well, but a lot of great new stuff like a new Shearwater and Mary lattimore and Christian Lee Hutson whom I love so much I hope he is a good person.
Have a lovely weekend I hope your Friday is just lovely.
