Good morning. Hello. How are you? #1136
Kinda an aimless one but I do need someone to help with the NVIDIA personal LLM software if you know how that works. Also a moderately good court-packing idea.
Good morning! Hola! How are you? Are you frickin PUMPED for Wednesday? I am pumped. I’m pumped because I had a very hard day yesterday and I got through it and it was exhausting and I was at low ebb all day but now I am through it and I am slightly a manic depressive individual and today is feeling manic. Or maybe it’s this new Jesus and Mary Chain slab o’ vinyl (pressed at 45 RPM!) that I’m listening to. Or maybe it’s cuz Jane was super pleasant this morning and we got to school on time despite the traffic BS. Still no word from the school about the traffic BS. Apparently it’s from possible erosion because of rain? But the only reason anyone knows that is because a mom from some mom’s group super sleuthed it with the DOT, not because the school, you know, felt compelled to explain why one of three routes to the school was shut down, how there were going to be major traffic snarls, and whether or not it was going to be counted against your kid if you were late. Nah.
“Snarls” is a weird word.
Guess what? I’m not gonna rant about Apple today. Are you excited?
I’m gonna rant about the Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal recall.
Or the fact that you can’t buy jelly or jam that is 100% fruit anywhere anymore and now I gotta order the shit off of Amazon. Cmon man.
People freakin’ love extra sugar in their preserves made out of plants that are predominantly made of sugar. It is really weird.
All right let’s check the notes and see what we have to write about today.
Oh yes! Important neighborhood news: we saw our first spring bunny yesterday on our walk. Very exciting. Tried to get a picture, no luck.
And our cherry tree is blossoming. I am slightly stressed that it’s four days of peak blossoming are going to be while we are in Boston. I love that tree so much and it is one of my favorite times of year. I guess I will point one of the cameras at it before I leave just in case. Yeah, that is a good idea.
Excited about this trip to Boston. It is going to be good to see everyone. I like friends, friends are nice. Do you want to come to a goth dancing night for kids? You should come. With your kid. Do you want to go see Young Fathers at the Sinclair? You should come. Maybe Man Ray after.
I did not, however, take the week off. It wouldn’t have mattered if I did. I would have to work either way. This is sad. I have big plans for redoing the 3-season room, and I want to get to sanding, or at least attempting to sand, to find out if the paneling is sandable, or if I need to re-panel, which really takes the whole project up a notch in complexity. I am hoping, right now, I can get away with sanding, finishing, painting the ceiling, and new trim. Looking at the photos Jussi took and sent to me to refresh my memory, I am increasingly thinking this might be optimistic and I might need to get some new paneling. And then if I’m gonna do that, well, I may as well go full tongue and groove or shiplap or something and then it’s a whole thing. Which will be super fun, but may take longer than the week-ish we have on this trip, and it may need to be postponed till summer. Sadz.
The kitchen on that apartment is getting redone too, there was a big leak. The kitchen was my least favorite part of the apartment and I was secretly trying to figure out a way to redo it without telling the landlords (sorry), but now I don’t have to, so that is nice. No I did not sabotage the kitchen. If I was gonna do that, i woulda done it in January or something, not right before we get there.
No one is magically mailing me MDMA for my therapeutic needs, so clearly the internet has gotten a lot worse than it was in the oughts. In the old days, you could just manifest things by writing them down on the internet and they would happen. Now thrat privilege seems to be reserved for lunatic MAGA heads. Hrm. MAGA MDMA they look kinda similar. I wonder….
Let’s do some one-liners about current events:
That ship thing is crazy. There was a blackout on the ship before it hit the bridge. I am mildly surprised the bridge pillars weren’t on those man-mad islands with big barriers of dirt around the pillar but what do I know. I don’t have anything profound to say here except it is in moments like this that content creators such as I feel a deep need to say something new and interesting because that is what they think their job is as content creators, and this urge can often push people into conspiracy land. But, you know, if you’re standing there by the barn, chewing your chew, and your farmer buddy is next to you and says “how bout that weather? Rainy enough for you?” Generally speaking, you can just say “yep” and the other farmer is happy. You do not need to say “it’s the satellites seeding the clouds.”
Yet on the internet, people feel a need to be witty.
You don’t need to be witty, man. Just connect.
Yep.
Wait these were gonna be one-liners.
I am very excited about Mike Johnson’s majority shrinking to one. I had a dream about Mike Johnson the other day. That dude was insane. A mix between Ned Flanders and Kenneth from 30 Rock and Woody Harrelson in Natural Born Killers. Dude was terrifying. Please remove him from the national stage.
If we take back all three branches of government, we should pass a law that says “Supreme Court Justices can’t take any money from anyone but the government. This law is retroactive” and kick like five people off the bench and replace them all. The funny thing is they would have to recuse themselves from the decision, LOL, and also it says pretty clearly in the constitution that the congress can do this. So let’s just do it.
Also we need to ban the Comstock act those judges are freakin terrifying.
I need to learn how to use this NVIDIA personal LLM software solution thing so if you are an expert on that, please get in touch I can pay.
This Mary Chain album sounds a lot better loud and on vinyl than it did on its first quiet listen on Spotify.
I had absolutely no idea P Diddy was a sex trafficker, omnisexual, endlessly voracious, maybe killed Tupac and was groomed by Clive Davis? Thank you to my hip-hop connected friend who will remain anonymous for filling me in on all of this. Guess that man should go to jail! And here I thought he was just a milquetoast entertainer for middle-aged, middle-class dilettantes.

Marques Brownlee reviewed the Vinfast VF8, a new electric car from Vietnam that is coming to America. This is relevant to my interests because Vinfast entered into one of those expensive develop agreements with the state of North Carolina but also specifically my county, and Vinfast is supposed to build their factory here and I am just not sure if it’s going to happen or not. Marques did not completely pan the car — it’s not as bad as the Fisker Ocean, apparently. Also his main critiques seem to be in terms of tuning and tweaks, which implies that it can be salvaged. But the weird thing is that this notable automotive journalist wrote a scathing review of Vinfast something like a year ago, and he said the same thing! They don’t understand American drivers and what they want out of acceleration curves, suspension, etc. Maybe they’ll tweak it before it arrives on American shores he said, a year ago. But it’s now been a year and either they have not tweaked it or they tweaked it badly. So that is somewhat alarming, even if it is fixable.
Increasingly, I think this factory will not happen. Which is fine I guess. Apple is coming and we don’t need any more people anyway.
(sorry I can’t find the link to that link to the article from a year ago oh wait here it is.)
Been thinking about my Lightning and how I might buy another one once they are selling them with NACS ports, assuming the ports are on the right side, as opposed to mine, which is on the left. It got me wondering, though: are they still going to sell/give you one of those posh 80 Amp wall-mounted chargers when you buy a NACS-equipped Lightning? Or is that deal kaput? And what do I do with my old one? And can you put a NACs-to-CCS adaptor on there to use your old CCS infrastructure? I am curious.
Oh boy, alas, work calls. Got a 9 AM meeting today boo. I better go.
Talk tomorrow!
Today’s Media of the Day is justa mix. New stuff been listning to, couple olds, thanks to friends (Conrad! Ben! Kelly!) Excited to see Chappell Roan next week opening for Olivia. She’s gonna go places, that woman. This is the second worst tune on the new Kacey record, but I mean, it’s not terrible.
And again. I am very, very into the Thou Nirvana covers record.
Okay talk tomorrow love you byeeeee.
